The Committee
The festival would not be possible without our dedicated committee who work tirelessly through the year to make sure we can keep bringing this fantastic free event to the community. From grant applications and equipment hire to putting the programme together and the overall co-ordination of the weekend, the committee are an integral part of the festival. Neil is one of the founder members and currently the chairman of the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival.
“I Learnt to play Trumpet and Tenor Horn at school and joined Shropshire Schools Brass Band in the mid 1970s. After a long spell playing no music, I joined Wem Jubilee Band on cornet in 1996 and later Wellington (Telford) Brass Band after helping secure long term funding from Wellington Town Council”.
Currently he is a member of The Jackfield Band on second cornet and the ever so slightly eccentric, Vorsprung Durch Oompah Band as a trumpet player and MC.
Annette has been on the festival committee from the very beginning providing general support for the team. Her role has expanded over the years especially with the Youth Music Workshops, sourcing vital funding and helping to coordinate the activities in primary schools.
Not an instrumentalist but enjoys playing percussion for Vorsprung Durch Oompah!!
Laura joined us in February 2024, is the festival secretary and made her mark by creating this website and acting as one of our official photographers in 2024. Laura plays the Trombone with Langley Band who are regular visitors to the festival. She joined the committee because she wanted to give something back to the brass band community and is a big fan of the festival.
Jo has been a fan of the festival for some time so she was delighted to join the committee in 2025. A keen musician since early childhood playing woodwind, strings, piano and singing (pretty much everything except brass), she appreciates how music can entertain, inspire and unite people, and believes that this festival embodies that perfectly. She can occasionally be found lurking amongst the high notes with a clarinet in Vorsprung Durch Oompah.
Peter is our treasurer and joined the committee in 2025. Further info will be added in due course.
